| Alec Baldwin: NYU's Commencement Speaker! Posted: 12 May 2010 07:50 PM PDT  Alec Baldwin braves nasty New York City weather to speak at NYU’s Commencement on Wednesday (May 12) at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx. The 52-year-old actor, who is a 1994 graduate of the university’s Tisch school, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from NYU. “California and Florida may have sunshine, but they don’t have NYU, am I right?” Alec joked in his speech as rain poured down on graduates. Alec’s It’s Complicated co-star, Meryl Streep, will deliver the commencement speech at NYC’s Barnard College next Monday (May 17). You can watch a webcast of her speech here! | Oprah + Alan Ball = Immortal Life Posted: 12 May 2010 10:40 AM PDT  Oprah Winfrey and True Blood creator Alan Ball are teaming up to create an HBO film together! The two will base the film on the nonfiction best-seller The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, according to the AP. The story, written by Rebecca Skloot, is the true account of an African-American woman who died of cervical cancer in the 1950s - and the nonconsensual use of her tumor for medical exploration use after her death. There is no word yet on when production will start or when we’ll see it on HBO. |
