In the chill of the night, At the scene of the crime, Like a streak of light, He arrives just in time!
After yesterdays 30 foot fall, kudos to AEA for finally stepping in today to look at safety issues for those working on the accident plagued Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark. I love a huge musical and this one looks truly spectacular but it seems so much money has been sunk into this show that peoples lives seem to be taking a back seat to the mighty dollar. Hopefully the show will do what it needs to do to ensure that the actors and stunt people associated with the show are kept a number #1 priority.
Landon Taylor has been a favorite of mine since I first saw his work a few years ago. The first shots I saw of Landon were some great shots by photographer Josh Thompson. Landon was featured on FH in the early days after the launch of the blog. Landon lives and works in Las Vegas and has spent the last couple of years singing and dancing in one of the towns biggest shows.
Landon is now putting a focus on his modeling and is traveling and working across the country over the next couple of months. Landon will be in LA Nov 16th-19th. Houston Nov 26th-Dec 13th and in New York City Dec 14-19th. You can see more of Landon on his MM Page HERE:
When checking out Landon's portfolio recently I was drawn to his new work with Eric Scot Photos and Ivan Avila. Landon has a great look with a youthful, boy next door face contrasted with the raw sexuality he exudes in his shots. I love how both Eric Scot and Ivan Avila captured Landon in their recent shoots.
I, like most of you was introduced to actor Kevin Anderson in 1991's Sleeping With The Enemy. Enemy was Julia Roberts first lead role after making a huge impact in Steel Magnolias, Pretty Woman and Mystic Pizza. I was about 15 when I went to see Enemy at the theatre an I remember thinking Kevin was cute but an odd choice for Julia's leading man. Looking back it is obvious why the producers went with Kevin. He look and presentation was a sharp contrast to that of Patrick Bergin and the movie needed a love interest for Julia who was non-threatening and Anderson's Ben was just that.
Kevin actually got his big break in film in 1993 in Risky Business.
'Yet his real career breakthrough came after appearing in the Steppenwolf production of Lyle Kessler's play ORPHANS**, when Kevin gained national critical acclaim for his riveting performance as the semi literate, frenetic brother, "Phillip." He moved with the play to New York, and then went on to reprise his role opposite Albert Finney at Hampstead and Apollo Theatre in 1986 and in the film version directed by the late Alan J. Pakula.' I recently finished Patti Lupone's memoir and was reminded of Kevin's talent during the chapters she discussed her time in London with Sunset Boulevard. Kevin co-starred along side Patti (although left the production before she was let go). Kevin has always had an eclectic array of credits both on screen on stage. Besides Sunset, Kevin has appeared on stage in productions including Twelfth Night, Pal Joey, Orpheus Descending, Death of a Salesman, I Never Sang for My Father and Come Back, Little Sheba.
Lupone, who puts Andrew Lloyd Webber through the ringer has nothing but good things to say about Anderson. I recommend Patti's book, a quick read full of lot of honest comments about the business. Although she likes Kevin, for the most part Patti does appear to dislike almost everyone else she has worked with. I do however appreciate her take on Webber, who although has had his fair share of hits, has also has some highly publicized misses. Sunset joins the ranks of Starlight Express and the recent Phantom remake as some of the stages biggest flops. Sunset kept from being a total failure only due it's incredible score and a couple of it's signature songs which have outlived the musical itself.

Currently as stated Kevin is on stage in London in The Shawshank Production. Anderson won the 1999 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play and was nominated for a Tony Award for the revival of Death of a Salesman. Anderson's tv credits include Nothing Sacred and Skin. You can check out the only site on Anderson I could find (A good one, but not update in awhile) HERE:

'I danced professionally for 18 years with several major ballet companies in both Canada and the United States including Les Grands Ballets Canadiens of Montreal and Pacific Northwest Ballet located in Seattle. After my ballet career I was in the touring company of the Broadway show Fosse then was hired by Franco Dragone as an original cast member for Celine Dion's Las Vegas show, 'A New Day'. Since retiring from performing full time I have performed on occasion in Salt Lake City with touring groups and performers such as Martha Wash performing 'It's Raining Men'. Currently I am a Graphic Design Student specializing in tattoo and logo design and creation.' Dale Rowse
It always amazes me when you see a photo and it is totally able to play on your assumptions, manipulate a preconceived biases and force you to look at something in a new light. This is what happened when I first saw shots of Dale Rowse.
The first shot I saw was a shot sent to me by Bill after his shoot with Dale. The shot was Dale standing shirtless, tattoo's in full display, wearing jeans and wearing sun glasses and a cowboy hat. The shot was raw, sexual, beautiful. I immediately made assumptions about Dale, who he was, what he did for a living solely based on how Bill chose to present him.
About a week later Michael Puff sent me a link to choose shots from his work with Dale. The first shot I viewed was Dale sailing through the air, naked, light, beautiful with white fabric flowing behind him.
The juxtaposition between the two shots was startling to me. I could never imagined the man in the first shot by Bill was a ballet dancer, someone who night after night for 3 years danced behind Celine Dion in Vegas. I could never have imagined he would be flying through the air as he was in the second shot by Michael. Despite my goal not to assume, the power of the lens, the power of the artist was most certainly at work.
Dale says photographers like that 'I am able to move, and create extreme poses without looking like your typical dancer.'
After getting to know Dale I am not sure there really is 'typical dancer' look. I just know that Dale Rowse has the ability not only to bust assumptions but to transform himself in front of the camera, creating beautiful, extreme, and dramatic images.
You can see more of Dale's work on his ModelMayhem page HERE:
Certainly the hottest thing about the current 'Hot List' issue of Rolling Stone are the shots of musician and actor Reeve Carney. Carney, whose band, appropriately called Carney has been acting the past couple of years and is about to open the biggest musical production of all time. Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, produced by Bono and the Edge opens on November 14th.
My Favorite comedian, the brilliant Mario Cantone returns to his hometown, Boston, MA to perform tomorrow night at 8pm at The Wilbur Theatre. Be sure to check it out if your near the area. Since I am posting about Mario, I decided to 'rerun' my Favorites of Favorites interview that Mario did with FH last fall.
In a little under three weeks, FH favorite Nick Adams and the cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert take to the stage in the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto. This is Nick's biggest role to date so if your in the area get out and show him some love! After it's Toronto run the show hits Broadway on February 28th at the Palace Theater. This past Monday I profiled Broadway actor, singer and dancer Charlie Sutton. (see that post HERE:) What I did not know then was that Charlie is about to open as part of the cast of the Broadway version of 'Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown'.
Based on the film by Pedro Almodovar, the musical features a book by Jeffrey Lane, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek. Charlie will be sharing the stage with some Broadway masters including Patti Lupone, De'Adre Aziza, Laura Benanti, Danny Burstein, Justin Guarini, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Beth Peil, and Sherie Rene Scott.
Directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher the show begins previews at Lincoln Center at the Belasco Theatre on October 5th. Charlie tells me they are currently in tech rehearsals and says the show is going to be great! If your in New York between October and January check it out! One of my favorite numbers from this past years Broadway Bares was 'The Bank'. While Joshua Buscher got most of the attention, my eyes were firmly planted on one of the guys to his side, Broadway actor and dancer Charlie Sutton. I love Charlie's look with his dark wavy hair and intense eye stare during most of the number. Since you all know I don't think stage actors get nearly enough attention, I decided to find out more about Charlie.
Charlie Sutton grew up in Florida where his love of the stage came from his mother who also had a passion for dance. Getting his training at Miami's New World School of the Arts high school, after graduating in 2002, Charlie headed to New York to attend college.
Charlie's stage credits since hitting New York including dancing in La Cage aux Folles, Wicked and Aida. Charlie also gained attention working in the Broadway production of John Waters Cry Baby. Most recently Charlie shared the stage with Nathan Lane and the cast of The Addams Family. Also interested in fashion, Sutton has been spending time creating his own designs. Some of Charlie's other credits include numberous music videos as well as a role in the movie The Producers.
