Peter Jackson: 'The Hobbit' Starts Production - First Look!

Peter Jackson poses on the set of his upcoming film The Hobbit, which starts production on Monday (March 21) in New Zealand.

The Hobbit, the prequel to The Lord of the Rings series, follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug.

Martin Freeman stars as Bilbo with Cate Blanchett, Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood, and Andy Serkis reprising their roles from The Lord of the Rings.

'Limitless' Tops Box Office, 'Rango' Takes Second Place

Bradley Cooper and Abbie Cornish’s latest film, Limitless, took the top spot at the box office this weekend with an estimated $19 million in ticket sales.

Second place was Rango, with $15.3 million, followed by Battle: Los Angeles, with $14.6 million.

Rounding out the top five were Matthew McConaughey’s The Lincoln Lawyer, with $13.4 million, followed by Paul with $13.2 million.

FYI: Low box office numbers are likely because of March Madness.

Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand on Saturday (March 19) in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

The 41-year-old entertainer and former presidential hopeful was taken to the hospital after the scary incident, which took place on the eve of Haiti’s presidential elections.

“He was released from the hospital [and is] fine now,” his rep told the Wall Street Journal, adding that Wyclef was released after a few hours and that the shot “just grazed his hand”.
