The 26-year-old Academy Award nominee guest starred in the show’s pilot - The Big C stars Laura Linney as Cathy, a suburban mom and teacher who’s been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Gabby will play a quick-witted student in Cathy’s class. Oliver Platt will play Cathy’s husband, according to Access Hollywood. Production is set to begin in May for a summer debut. |
| Letterman Extortionist: Six Months of Prison Time Posted: 09 Mar 2010 01:50 PM PST  David Letterman’s extortionist, Joe Halderman, pleaded guilty to attempted grand larceny and will serve six months in jail. The 52-year-old producer read a prepared statement in court saying that he attempted to extort $2 million from the late night host by threatening to disclose personal information about him. “I feel great remorse for what I have done,” Joe said (via Variety), apologizing to Dave, his family and Joe’s former girlfriend, Stephanie Birkitt. In addition to jail time, Joe will complete 1,000 hours of community service. If convicted at a trial, he could have faced up to 15 years in prison. |

The film, also starring Terrence Howard and Charlie Hunnam, is about a man (Hunnam) standing on a high-rise ledge who says he’ll jump while a police officer on the ground (Howard) tries his best to keep the situation under control. “The Ledge examines the different and sometimes dangerous beliefs people adopt as a means of surviving emotional trauma,” first time writer-director Matthew Chapman said (via THR). |
